  • FAQ

    What is 18-10 Stainless Steel?

18-10 refers to the composition of the stainless steel. It is 18% chrome and 10% nickel, which provides for excellent strength and corrosion resistance.

Where does the stainless steel come from?

The stainless steel is from U.S. steel mills and is melted in the U.S.

What is the black substance that is on some of my flatware? How do I remove it?

The black substance that is sometimes found on new flatware is buffing compound from the final polishing operation. It is a nontoxic material, which should be easily removed. If you give your flatware a short (15-20 minutes) soak in warm; soapy water, any residual compound should be easily removed.

    Is there a warranty?

Yes - there is a warranty against manufacturing defects for 25 years from purchase.

    Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes! Your stainless flatware is meant to be used and enjoyed. It is suggested that you rinse your flatware after use before placing in the dishwasher. Any dish detergent with chlorine additive is not recommended.

What if I have well water?

It is recommended to wipe your flatware dry and not let the water evaporate on the pieces.

Why do stains occur on some stainless?

Discoloration can be caused by ingredients found in tea, coffee, salad dressing, vinegar and salt. Pitting or spotting is usually caused by hard water or from foods with high salt content.

    How do I remove stains?

Use a good quality stainless cleaner (Bar Keepers Friend is recommended) to remove the “build up” caused by minerals.
